Henry Kattago Appointed as Strategy Director of Government Office

Henry Kattago, the former Deputy Strategy Director of the Government Office, will assume the office of Strategy Director from next week.

Henry Kattago has been working as Deputy Strategy Director of the Government Office since the autumn of 2015. His responsibilities have included the compilation and implementation of the Government action plan and the competitiveness program, administrating Estonia's participation in the European semester economic coordination process, coordinating the work of task forces and expert groups as well as the Research and Development Council, Estonia's participation in the Open Governance partnership, and the investments task force of the European Commission and Member States. Kattago has also been temporarily acting as the Strategy Director.

Kattago previously worked as an adviser to the Strategy Unit responsible for the areas of economy and competitiveness, and coordinated the Entrepreneurship and Accounting Policy Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications before that, after having worked on various managerial positions in the private sector.

Kattago holds a Master's degree in international business management from EBS and has also graduated in public administration.
He is the member of various councils and committees and represents Estonia in international work groups.

The role of Strategy Director includes supporting the strategic development of the country, coordinating the implementation of Government goals, development of competitiveness growth plans, and starting and running initiatives to support those plans. The Strategy Director coordinates the development of good governance and administrative capacities, and advises the Government and the Prime Minister. The Strategy Director is also in charge of the Strategy Unit of Government Office.

The Secretary of State announced the competition for the post of the Strategy Director on 31 January this year. A total of seven applications were submitted to the competition carried out by the Top Civil Service Excellence Centre.
