1.8.1. Development and Testing of a Data-Driven Decision-Making Dashboard for Cancer Care
Cancer is increasingly becoming a chronic disease, and its incidence continues to rise. By 2030, the number of new cancer cases is projected to reach approximately 11,000 per year, which is 25% more than in 2015. This will place a significant additional burden on Estonia’s healthcare system.
At present, structured, high-quality, patient-level cancer data collected in real time is not available.
The data is dispersed across different information systems, and there are no nationally standardised datasets or agreed definitions for collecting the data. As a result, the information cannot be processed effectively.
These challenges can be addressed by improving data collection and management, enabling healthcare professionals to make better and faster decisions and thereby helping to reduce the burden on the healthcare system.
