How can we make Estonians living around the world part of Estonia’s business networks?

An estimated 200,000 people of Estonian origin live around the world.

Until now, the state has primarily sought to engage Estonians living around the world through their national identity by providing resources, opportunities and support for preserving the Estonian language and culture. However, less systematic attention has been paid to the diverse professional expertise of Estonians living abroad and their potential to contribute to strengthening Estonia’s economy.

The team tested solutions for identifying, connecting and activating a network of global Estonians interested in contributing to life in Estonia through their professional knowledge and skills.

The project involved the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Education and Youth Board, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of the Interior.

The project mentor was Ave Habakuk.
