Innovation Projects

Public sector innovation projects are funded through the Innovation Fund and the Innovation Programme. During the current EU funding period, the Innovation Fund supports projects that seek solutions for implementing the changes identified in the Estonia 2035 strategy by applying new knowledge and technologies. The Innovation Programme is an approximately eight-month design-thinking-based programme for developing public services. Since 2019, four Innovation Programmes have been carried out, involving a total of 26 projects.

    1.3.4. Development of a Smart Buoy Network

    Digitaalselt joonistatud helesinised, fluorestseerunud merelaine tumesinisel taustal

    High-quality environmental and navigational information covering the entire maritime area is essential for a modern blue economy, the sustainable management of the marine environment, and maritime security and safety. Real-time information helps prevent maritime accidents cost-effectively, enables a rapid response to marine pollution incidents before they reach the shore, and improves maritime situational awareness from a security perspective.

    Project duration: 2024–2028
    The project is funded by the Public Sector Innovation Fund.
